太 初 有 道,道 与 上 帝 同 在,
Our Mayflower Group started in a small way more than 15 years ago. Mr & Mrs Hay were the first to open their house at Mayflower Crescent for us to meet for bible study. At each meet there were about 10 members, most of whom residing at Mayflower Gardens. Sadly, after about a year or so, the group folded up. Some time later, in early 1990, Henry Goh, a member of the group, was convinced that God wanted him to revive the group so that besides worshipping at Ang Mo Kio Methodist Church, we seniors could also have the opportunity to meet at a member's house to pray, to sing songs of praise, to study the Bible and to fellowship as Christian brothers and sisters. The response to Henry's call to revive the group was very good. After some discussion and planning, the Mayflower Bible Study & Fellowship Group was reorganized with Henry Goh as the leader. We decided to meet once a month and most members agreed to take turns to open their homes for the monthly gathering. Since the
reorganization in 1990, Mayflower Group has been active. We members are happy to have the opportunity
to meet old friends at least once a month and to enjoy worshipping God and
studying the Bible together.

"The Lord's My Shepherd, I'll Not Want" first appeared in print in the Scottish Psalter of 1650. This Psalter was assembled by the Westminster Assembly, which also gave us the Westminster Confession and the Book of Common Prayer. In it, portions from various sources were combined to create the beautiful hymn we know today. Though it was well-loved in Scotland, "The Lord's My Shepherd" did not enjoy popularity outside the Church of Scotland for nearly 300 years. It finally appeared in the Methodist Hymnal of 1876 and later the Congregational Hymnal of 1916. But it wasn't included in an Anglican hymnbook until 1965. The hymn version of Psalm 23 remains faithful to David's psalm. Its popularity in England grew in part because of its use during the 1947 marriage ceremony between Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Since that time, it's become a well-known hymn, often requested for weddings and funerals today.
And God is able to make all
grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times...you will be abound in
every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
